Mission Impossible 7 actor and producer, Tom Cruise made it to the trends on Twitter, after an audiotape of him ranting on the set, went viral. Now, Hollywood celebrities like George Clooney and others speak up and extend support
The film Mission Impossible 7, starring Tom Cruise in the lead was one of the very first Hollywood movies to kick-start production after the Coronavirus pandemic hit. The cast and crew were busy shooting before the pandemic until they had to bring a halt to the process. The team resumed work, ensuring safety protocols soon after permissions to shoot were granted. A few days back, MI7 actor-producer, Tom Cruise made it to the trends on Twitter. He grabbed headlines after an audiotape of him yelling on the sets went viral.
After the MI7 controversy, Hollywood celebrities like George Clooney and others extended support. Speaking with Howard Stern during a radio interview, Clooney said, “I wouldn’t have done it that big. I wouldn’t have, you know, pulled people out.” George Clooney continued, “You’re in a position of power and it’s tricky, right? You do have a responsibility for everybody else and he’s absolutely right about that. And, you know, if the production goes down, a lot of people lose their jobs. People have to understand that and have to be responsible. It’s just not my style to, you know, to take everybody to task that way.”
George Clooney defended Tom Cruise’s intentions and added, “I understand why he did it,” and explained, “He’s not wrong at all about that. You know, I just, I don’t know that I would have done it quite that personally, but I don’t know all the circumstances so maybe he had it 10 or 15 times before.” Apart from Clooney, reacting to the leaked audiotape, actor Josh Gad took to Twitter and wrote, “Tom Cruise is correct here FYI. Sorry/Not sorry.” Actor Whoopi Goldberg said on The View, “I get it, Some people don’t understand why he would get so angry. That’s his movie. If he goes down with COVID, the movie’s done.”
Meanwhile, the audio tirade of Tom Cruise yelling on the sets of his film was first released by The Sun. The actor was schooling two crew members after he saw them standing nearby near a computer monitor. The two-minute-long audio clip heard Cruise also warning the employees. The film has been shot in Italy, Norway, and currently filming in the UK. And, it was recently that the production was stalled after 12 members of the crew were COVID-19.
